Interventional Radiology is a clinical subspecialty of radiology. Interventional radiologists apply minimally invasive therapy using imaging guidance such as X-ray, ultrasound and CT scan.

The procedures are typically performed using a percutaneous approach ( via a small nick through the skin). Most procedures are performed under local anaesthetics. Intravenous sedation and pain control may be required in some procedures. It is generally associated with low complication rate. The recovery is usually faster than open surgery.
